COMFORT AND FIT
Yes, the NecksGen REV has self aligning tethers that offer range of motion from left to right.
Your tether should have 1" to 2" of slack. If you have a REV device, the tethers are available in 1 inch increments. They are available in the parts section. If you have a REV2, the tether is adjustable. Simply remove the silver screw and slide the tether to the correct position.
As far back as possible. Do not pull the device forward so it rests up tight against your neck.
safety and testing
All NecksGen Head and Neck Restraints have passed the mandated SFI 38.1 specification testing.
Most racing organizations in the USA, that have recently mandated neck restraints, require an SFI approved device. NecksGen REV is an SFI approved device. (Spec. 38.1)
Yes. NecksGen devices incorporate lateral tethers that offer alternative load paths in side-on impact for some side impact protection.
helmet hardware
Yes, included in the packaging will be quick release helmet hardware. (no extra charge)
Helmet hardware is included with your device, but if you are using a helmet that you are drilling yourself, then you will need to buy the load plate and wrench kit separately. (Link to these items)
tethers
Every 2 years. NecksGen requires that tethers be replaced at every recertification, and should also be replaced every 2 years in between. Obviously you should also replace the tether if you were in any impacts, or you see any visual damage.
Your tether should have between 1" and 2" of slack when seated, buckled in, and looking straight ahead. (Link to Manual)
seats and belts
NecksGen devices come in several sizes to accommodate your shoulder belt width. Choose your appropriate size for your vehicle.
Note: 3" devices will work with a 2" wide belt, but 2" devices won't have adequate space to fit a 3" wide belt, so the 3" devices are mor versatile.
No, ideally the seatbelt shoulder harness will be free of any obstructions that would cause the device to interfere with the belts. There should be no need for a pad on the belt because the REV has enough padding.
The gap should be between 4" and 8".
We recommend anywhere from zero to 10 degrees below horizontal of the highest point on the shoulders. Your shoulder belts should pull you slightly down and back as you tighten them.
maintenance
Yes. All sfi 38.1 devices expire every 5 years. We offer recertification services to prolong the life of your restraint. Click here to learn more.
First remove the pads. Start with compressed air, then wipe with a cloth and soapy water. Do not use any harsh chemicals like Brake cleaner to clean your device. Closely inspect the ether and allow to dry out of the sun.
